Project overview...

What once was a 30 year old cabin on the lake is now an award winning modern energy efficient retirement home on the shores of Rice Lake.

This home is 1424 square foot, Energy Star certified, a Timber Frame Hybrid with ICF foundation. Aside from its practical use of space designed for 2 people and visiting family, one of its major attributes is its low cost to heat and cool. Our client made it very clear to us from the onset of the design that they are on a very windy point on the lake and that the home had to be built tight.

The efficiency of this home can be attributed to four main areas, ICF basement, Icynene spray foam insulation on main floor walls and attic, window glazing treatments and a HVAC system comprised of a high efficient furnace with integrated HRV, air source heat pump and tankless water heater sized to also supply the furnace for heating.
