Project overview...

Combining wood and real stone consistently creates a look and feel in tune with today’s cottage country styles sought after by many.

This timber frame hybrid has a combination of structural and decorative timber elements. The design of this cottage was challenged by the fact the screen room section of the original cottage had to remain. From this we designed the new portion incorporating the existing screen room and yet still creating a very practical and livable floor plan. A key difference with this design is its kitchen. Three walls of the kitchen are without upper cabinets. Our client wanted an unobstructed view of the lake. Another feature giving this cottage an old world look is the traditional post and beam ceiling and floor structure over the dining area made from western red cedar. Wood flooring is reclaimed pine, refitted and finish for a spectacular look which adds to that cozy cottage feel. Le Page windows and doors round out this quality and energy efficient cottage.
