Project overview...

A happy customer is our key focus. It starts with careful listening and paying attention to the details to be able to turn the customers’ needs and wishes into reality. Mission accomplished with this beautiful custom cottage build.

As you can see from the photos this client loves colour, starting with the Federal Blue Fraser wood siding and finishing the kitchen with the coloured Elmira appliances. This cottage captures the changing colours of the landscape with the expansive east facing Great room views and is perfect for entertaining with the large main living areas (screen room, great room, kitchen) grouped together with the bedrooms off to the side. There is a loft overlooking the Great room with a pool table and TV. The kitchen features a huge stone granite wall, cherry wood cabinets and quartz counter tops. Extensive landscaping includes retaining walls, stone steps and large stone patio created with the new Permacon Arbel pavers.

This project had its challenges fitting it into the landscape with its small building envelope, saving the trees and its 25 foot vertical drop from the driveway to the building site. After the original cottage was removed and the excavation started, we could see the rock was very uneven changing about 16 feet in elevation from one side of the foundation to the other. All loose material was excavated down to rock to ensure a solid foundation. Due to the sloped and uneven rock we had all the footings engineered, which required drilling, pinning and rebar reinforcement. Most materials had to be craned into the site from the driveway above.

Innovative state of the art and high end finishes were added, including an audio system which extends to the outdoors that includes a built in music server capable of storing over 100,000 songs, a Honeywell security/home automation system with the ability to control the HVAC , lights and strategically placed cameras from virtually anywhere and built in TV’s with a dedicated closet which houses all the electronics so no wires are seen in any room at any time. As well, an ESIL electrolysis water purification system, wide plank wood flooring, composite decking with glass railings and custom tile showers were added.

We look forward to another rewarding and successful build like this one with our next client.
